It’s Just a Little Warmer Now

You may have noticed in pictures of our house, the whole back wall of the living/office area is window. Floor to ceiling. It’s a gorgeous view in summer, when the bougainvillea and everything is in full bloom.
However, it’s not summer in South America right now, it’s full on winter. And my office chair and computer are about 3 feet away from that back window, and our house is unheated. That means it’s about 65 degrees in here all the time, give or take a degree. That might not seem too cold, and there was a time when I didn’t think it was that cold. But when you’re in it all the time, with no place to get warm, it gets pretty darn cold.
I usually wear sweat pants and thick socks plus a sweater, and do okay. The problem is my hands. I work back here on the computer 8-10 hours a day, and my hands – especially my mouse hand! – get frigid.
Well, today, that has all changed! We went to the Indian Market with my sister to buy a few gifts for her to take home, and finally – we ran across these:
Yes! Brand new, hand-knitted fingerless gloves! I think it’s just regular wool, it doesn’t feel like alpaca. But oh my goodness, so warm… sigh. I can sit here and type all day with out feeling like I’m on the Byrd expedition. If you want your own, Amazon has some similar here —>Fingerless Gloves
Plus – you can see my pretty blue nail polish, and behind my blurry, out of focus hand is a little bit of the giant Wall o’ Windows. Ignore the ubiquitous white plastic chair.
Now, I’m off to eat some (Key)Lime Pie with home made whipped cream. Recipe tomorrow!
