An Experience of a Lifetime

Khaled on the Inca TrailLast year the corporation Reckitt Benckiser held a competition on Facebook called Experience of a Lifetime. There were 5 winners chosen, and each one got to do some sort of fantastic trip to somewhere around the world. Well, one of the winners, Khaled, got to make a trek of the Inca Trail, all the way up to Machu Picchu.

I’m sure right about now you’re thinking… um, good for him, but what does this have to do with anything?

Well the really cool thing about the whole competition is that during their various treks, each of the contests winners is raising money for Save the Children.  For every picture that the trek participants can persuade people that they meet during their trip to upload to the Experience of a Lifetime website, Reckitt Benckiser is donating a buck to Save the Children.

“But,” you say “I haven’t seen Khaled on the trail … how can I help?”

No problem!

If you are hiking the Inca Trail (or have hiked it in the past!), you can support Khaled by uploading a picture of yourself on the Inca Trail (which would include being at Machu Picchu). If you’ve never been on the Inca Trail, you can support Khaled (or any of the other winners!) by taking a picture of yourself holding a sign saying “I’m supporting Khaled in Spirit!”

And as if helping kids with Save the Children isn’t enough, everyone who uploads a picture is entered into a prize drawing for $1500 US!

Khaled is just finishing up his Inca Trail journey; you can go to the site to check out pictures and videos he’s posted while live blogging on the way.

So join in, post a picture and help Save the Children!

With so many ways to help, I know there are a lot of people who will be willing to pitch in. Count me as one of them.
